Turkey and Ghana have agreed to cooperate in preventing the illegal trafficking of weapons, ammunition, explosives and nuclear, radioactive and toxic materials.

The cover page of the agreement between Ghana and Turkey.

According to the cooperation agreement, a copy of which was obtained by Nordic Monitor, the two countries also committed to working together on various issues relating to terrorism.

The agreement envisages the exchange of information at the operational level between the relevant agencies of the two countries to identify and detect persons or money involved in the crimes listed.

They committed themselves to cooperating on special investigative techniques and undercover operations as well as to sharing information.

The agreement was signed on April 16, 2014 in the Ghanian capital of Accra but became effective on Oct. 12, 2018 after the approval process was completed in Turkey.

There is no stated expiration date for the agreement.
