The budget of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) for 2019 has been set at 2.2 billion Turkish lira (in excess of $400 million), according to a budget bill published in the Official Gazette on Dec. 31, 2018.

The budget spreadsheet for MIT does not provide details except a general reference to “Services for Public Order and Security,” which are not subject to specific budgetary classification.

The Turkish intelligence agency also has access to a multi-billion dollar defense fund as well as secret discretionary funding that is assigned to the office of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

For a comprehensive analysis of the spy agency’s budget, you can read journalist Abdullah Bozkurt’s detailed analysis here.
